A Sprecho code can be a promotional discount or a partner referral code. Both go in the same field, and both show you exactly what they do before you pay anything.

Where to enter it

The checkout is inside the desktop app.

  1. Start a subscription from Settings → Plans & Billing.
  2. Pick a plan and continue to the order summary.
  3. Click Have a code?
  4. Type the code and click Apply.

The summary updates immediately: a banner confirms the code, a discount line appears above the total, and a note underneath says how long the discount runs. Remove takes it off again.

You may also be asked for a code during onboarding, right before the trial screen. Entering it there stores it for you so it is not lost by the time you subscribe.

What the discount applies to

The discount is applied to the net price per seat, before VAT. On a multi-seat purchase it applies to each seat, and the summary shows the whole-order saving.

Coupons apply to the subscription price. They do not change the VAT treatment — see VAT and business billing.

How long it lasts

Read the line under the applied code. It is one of these:

What it says What it means
First month only · regular price afterwards One billing period
First year only · regular price afterwards One annual period
First N months only A fixed number of periods
Applies to every renewal For as long as the subscription runs
N extra trial days Not a price cut — a longer trial

"20% off" without qualification is not a thing. Every discount has a duration attached, and the checkout always states it. If you are budgeting for a year, read that line rather than the percentage.

Referral codes without a discount

A partner referral code may carry no discount at all. In that case the banner says Referred by … and the total is unchanged — the code only records who sent you.

That is not a failed redemption. The code worked; it does not reduce the price.

Why a code might be rejected

If you see This code isn't valid. Please check and try again., the usual causes are:

  • A typo. Hyphens and the digit 0 versus the letter O are the classic ones. Capitalisation is never the problem — codes are matched case-insensitively.
  • The code has been deactivated. Promotional codes are switched off when a campaign ends.
  • The partner is no longer active. A referral code stops working when the partner's account is closed.
  • The code does not exist. Check the source you got it from, not a screenshot of it.

Couldn't validate the code. Try again. is a different message: that is a temporary problem reaching the server, not a verdict on the code. Wait a moment and click Apply again.

Applying a code to an existing subscription

The field appears during checkout, so the natural moment for a code is when you subscribe or when you change plan. If you already have a running subscription and have been given a code, contact support rather than cancelling — cancelling to re-subscribe is rarely the cheapest route, because you lose the period you have already paid for.

Frequently asked questions

In the checkout inside the desktop app. Open the order summary, click "Have a code?", type the code and click Apply. The discount appears in the summary before you confirm the order.
