Free is not a crippled demo. You get the whole Sprecho app — dictation into every application, AI formatting, your dictionary, your snippets, your notes and your history — with one limit: 2,000 dictated words per week.
That is roughly two long emails a day. This article tells you exactly where the boundary sits so you can decide whether you are over it.
What is included
Everything the app does, with no feature locked:
- Dictation into any application on your Mac or PC
- AI formatting — punctuation, capitalisation, paragraphs, filler removal
- 100+ languages with automatic detection
- Your personal dictionary, including auto-learning from corrections
- Snippets — voice shortcuts for text you repeat
- Notes and the full dictation history with search
- The mobile app
There is no watermark, no trimmed feature set and no upgrade nag inside a feature. The only thing Free does is count words.
The weekly cap and when it resets

The week is a fixed calendar week, not a rolling seven days from your signup date. Whatever you have left on Sunday evening is gone on Monday morning, and a new 2,000 begins.
Dictations made on your phone draw from the same weekly pool, with a lower sub-limit of 1,000 words per week on mobile. The total weekly capacity across all your devices is 2,000 words — never 3,000.
What happens when you hit the cap
Dictation stops. Nothing else does.
A dictation attempted after the cap appears in your history with a note that the weekly limit was reached. Your history, dictionary, snippets and notes stay fully accessible, and you can still search, copy and edit everything you dictated before.
You have two ways forward: wait for Monday, or upgrade. An upgrade takes effect immediately, so you are not locked out until the next reset.
The cap counts words in the finished text, not seconds of speech. Long pauses, restarts and dictations you cancel do not eat into it. What you actually keep is what is counted.
What is not included
- Unlimited dictation. That is the Pro plan.
- Priority support. Free accounts get normal support.
- The team and administration layer — shared team dictionary and snippets, admin dashboard, licence management, SSO, MDM deployment, pay by invoice.

Free, the trial, and the order they happen in
Every new account starts with a 14-day Pro trial — unlimited words, no credit card. Free is what you land on when the trial ends and you have not subscribed, and it is also what you return to if you cancel a Pro subscription later.
In other words, Free is the resting state of a Sprecho account. It is not something you have to sign up for and not something that expires.

Deciding whether 2,000 is enough
Dictate normally through the trial and look at your history at the end of it. If you were routinely finishing the week under 2,000 words, Free is genuinely enough. If you passed it in three days, the cap will be the thing you think about every Thursday — and that is what Pro removes.
