Everything to do with your plan lives in one place: Settings → Plans & Billing in the desktop app. Team and Enterprise subscriptions are managed by the team owner in the Enterprise portal.
The rule that explains all of it: you get what you paid for. Changes that give you more start immediately; changes that give you less wait until the period you already paid for has run out.
When each change takes effect
| Change | Takes effect | What you are charged |
|---|---|---|
| Free or trial → Pro | Immediately | The new plan, at checkout |
| Monthly → Annual | Immediately | A prorated invoice for the remaining value |
| Annual → Monthly | End of the current billing period | Nothing now; monthly from the switch |
| Cancel | End of the current billing period | Nothing further |
Upgrade from monthly to annual
- Open Settings → Plans & Billing.
- On your current plan card, click Switch to Annual.
- Review the comparison — current price, new price and the effective monthly rate — then confirm.
Your saved payment method is used, so there is nothing to re-enter. The upgrade applies immediately and you receive a prorated invoice for the remaining value of the month you had already paid for.
Switch from annual to monthly
- Open Settings → Plans & Billing.
- Click Switch to Monthly and confirm.
Nothing is charged today. You keep annual access until the end of the current billing period, and the plan card shows Switching to … at end of billing period so you can see the change is queued. Monthly billing starts after that.
A queued downgrade is not a cancellation, and a cancellation is not a downgrade. While a downgrade or cancellation is pending, the Switch buttons disappear from the card — that is expected, not a bug.
Cancel
- Open Settings → Plans & Billing.
- Click Cancel subscription.
- Confirm in the dialog.
Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period. The card then shows Cancels at end of billing period, and no further payment is taken. When the period ends, the account moves to the Free plan.
There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee. You can cancel on the first day of a period; you keep the access you paid for until it ends.
If you are on the Free plan there is nothing to cancel — Free is the resting state of a Sprecho account, not a subscription.
What happens to your data after cancelling
Nothing is deleted. Cancelling ends a payment, not an account.
- Your dictation history stays, fully searchable.
- Your dictionary and snippets stay, including everything auto-learned.
- Your notes stay.
- Your account stays open, on the Free plan with 2,000 words per week.
Audio recordings continue to expire on their normal retention schedule, exactly as they did while you were paying.
If you want your data actually removed, that is a separate, deliberate action — see Delete your data or your account and Turn off transcript and audio storage.
Resubscribing later picks up exactly where you left off; nothing has to be rebuilt.
Teams and Enterprise
Team subscriptions are cancelled and changed by the team owner, not by individual members, and seat counts are what drives the amount. See How Enterprise licences and seats work.
When a team subscription ends, every member falls back to the Free plan with 2,000 words per week — the team itself is not deleted.
